Spring 2025-2026 Call: The proceeds of the Spring 2025-2026 Cascadia Chalice Lighters Call will go to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fairbanks in Alaska
“This grant would assist our small congregation in addressing a health and safety challenge in our religious education classroom: black mold discovered last summer, both on some basement walls and in the classroom’s overhead ceiling space.
Our remediation efforts – including drainage diversion outside and elimination of mold inside – are ongoing, and we hope to reclaim the classroom space for our children this spring. The alternative space we have been using for the last several months is far too cramped, and it is difficult to offer concurrent classes for different youth age groups.
Providing a safe and comfortable space for our fellowship’s growing youth population is a high priority, as we continue to work to attract young families to join our northern UU community.
Thank you!”
Opportunities for Unitarian Universalist leaders and active members to build relationships beyond their own congregations have become limited due to the dissolution of the PNWD and the pandemic. The Cascadia Board believes that such relationships give lay leaders a sense of belonging to something larger than themselves, reduces feelings of isolation, and increases the exchange of ideas that help keep our programs and services fresh and exciting.
During the pandemic, Cascadia encouraged collaborative proposals and funded three creative, successful initiatives. Each of these brought representatives of three or more congregations together. The Cascadia Board is committed to promoting more engagements like these between congregations.
